Westfield, Indiana: What the National Championship Gave Us

From July 23 to 26, Frisco Elite was one of more than 350 teams at the NFL FLAG Championships at Grand Park Sports Campus in Westfield, Indiana — the largest youth flag football tournament in the world. Thirteen divisions. Teams from twelve countries on five continents. Games running on ESPN, ABC, and Disney. Our kids from Frisco, Texas were in the middle of all of it, because they earned it — this team won the 2025 Dallas Cowboys Regional to punch that ticket.

The scoreboard didn't go our way

Let's say it plainly, because our players deserve honesty more than they need a highlight reel: we didn't get the results we wanted in Westfield. Against the best teams in the country, we came up short. That stings, and it should — you don't get better by pretending a loss didn't happen.

But here's what else is true. Every rep against that level of competition is worth ten against anyone else. Our players stood on the same fields where the Girls High School final was decided by one point in overtime — on national TV. They saw up close what elite looks like, and now they know exactly how far the gap is and exactly what closing it takes. That knowledge doesn't show up in a bracket. It shows up next season.

"Elite on the field. Elite at home." The standard doesn't change because of a scoreboard — it's what gets us back to nationals.

What comes next

We're not waiting until next summer to respond. The next chapter of Fathers and Football starts in the next few weeks, close to home:

• August 8–9 — Tournament at The Star in Frisco. Back on the field where this team won its regional title, at the home of the Dallas Cowboys.
• August 23 — Free Skills Clinic, Combine, and Tryouts. Open to everyone in our community at no cost. Come work with our coaches in the morning, then stay and compete — we are recruiting new players and building our next team right now.

If Westfield taught us anything, it's that the programs who make deep runs are the ones who develop their own. That's what the clinic, the combine, and the tryouts are about — finding the next group of kids who want to be part of this, and giving them a real path.
